2009 STUFF:

18 DEC 2009:  THE HERSHEY SWAP MEET:  OK, so it's almost Christmas, and the 2009 Hershey meet is already ancient history.  By now you may have seen Hershey photos on other any number of other websites, but you haven't seen THESE...

18 DEC 2009:  MORE OF MANO'S ARTWORK:  Regular readers will recognize Mano Forsman's Christmas artwork, which once again serves as this year's Christmas-time lead-in picture.  (The one above is a cropped version.)  I found out recently that Mano has a big exhibit at a museum in Finland.  Click HERE for some details, and a whole slew of jumbo sized artwork depicting Christmas street scenes in Sweden and Finland from a long time ago ... And, yes, that is a '59 Chevy sedan, if you look at the close-up...

16 NOV 2009:  THE 2009 MOTOEXOTICA - MANHEIM ACTION:  Here are a few photos from a recent event, held near St. Charles, MO... These photos say a little something about my taste in cars and trucks, as these were definitely not the kinds of vehicles that you see at your typical cruise-in... There was a terrific assortment, although I was surprised by some of the prices.  The economy might be bad, but you wouldn't have known that on this particular evening.  Bidding was strong, pretty much across the board, although there were a few bargains among the bunch.  And, yes, in case you find yourself wondering about that big rig, yes, that apparently is the same truck (or more precisely one of the two trucks, as the first was destroyed) used in the movie "Duel", although it did not meet reserve.  Anyway, click HERE for a sampling of pics, including at least three of those boxy Carter/Reagan era Cadillacs... For whatever reason, I really like those, even if they haven't really caught on yet as collector cars.  By 2059, they'll be all the rage.

22 OCT 2009:  HOOSIER MEET PHOTOS:  As promised, here are a few photos from this year's big Indy Hoosier Meet.... Click HERE for lots of Nashes, Hudsons, and other big cars.  It's just the kind of stuff we like.

04 OCT 2009 - IT'S BIG IN SWEDEN:  So this update has been a long time coming, but we do have a few pics from our buddies in Sweden to report on.  Go HERE for a few photos from the Power Big Meet, one of the biggest car shows in the world.

25 AUG 2009 - A CONCEPT TRUCK IN A SNOWSTORM - It's not every day that you see something as unexpected, and weird, as a prototype AMC Hornet truck.  But that's exactly what our buddy Bob Gaylord saw one day back in February, 1976, sitting out in the snow, just a little outside Detroit. Bob wrote recently, after seeing the photos from the AMO meet, and told me about how he spotted the Cowboy, in Birmingham, Michigan, right off of Woodward Avenue.  With minimal arm-twisting, I was able to persuade him to send me these never before published photos. Now, if some kind-hearted AMC fanatic can get in touch with the current owner of this one-of-one vehicle, I think he might just want to see these.  Enjoy... Click HERE for some never before seen photos. What a terrific restoration...

20 AUG 2009 - THIS YEAR'S IOLA PICS - It seems like every year, for whatever reason, the Iola pages just keep getting the biggest number of page hits.  I'm not sure why that is so, but it doesn't matter anyway.  I guess people are curious about what the show was like, or they wish they could have gone, but the wife said "No, you don't need to go all the way to Wisconsin for some silly car show", or whatever.  We don't care what your excuse is... If you missed out on all the fun, HERE is this year's batch of pics.  Enjoy...

06 AUG 2009 - AMERICAN MOTORS LIVES ON AT THE AMO MEET - Yes, Ramblers Rule... But at this year's big AMO event, it seemed like the later stuff took center stage.  Hey, I like those too...  In fact, I like 'em a lot.  Click HERE for some pics. And, if you've got a '67 Marlin that you'd like to sell me...... No, no, I'd better shut up.  I have too many cars already...

23 JUL 2009 - PETIT JEAN STUFF - Crazy stuff on the mountain.  It's millionaire hillbillies having fun, and absolutely our favorite meet of the year. Click HERE for more photos from this year's meet.

21 JUN 2009 - MIAMI DECO - Take a stroll down Ocean Boulevard... Cool cars, and some neat old Deco hotels that have been there since the 1930's...Click HERE for more...

21 JUN 2009 - EAT HERE IF IT KILLS YOU..... THE PALACE OF POISON LIVES AGAIN - Back in the 1950's this was THE cool place to hangout in St. Louis.  Click HERE for some pics from a recent memorial celebation at the original site.

09 MAY 2009 - EASTER PICS - As promised, here are a whole bunch of photos from this year's Horseless Carriage Club Extravaganza..... It's actually two car shows in one.  Restored cars are shown on the upper lot, and the hotrods are down by the entrance to the Municipal Opera.  Click HERE for some pics.

17 APR 2009 - CHICKASHA - The early stuff just keeps coming out, year after year... And it's not just your typical cars and parts. Click HERE for some pics from the best Pre-War meet in the land.

16 MAR 2009  - NEED TO REPRODUCE AN OLD CAR PART? -   Here's one nifty solution, courtesy of Jay Leno's Garage... Watch the whole thing.  You will be amazed... It just makes me proud to be an American!  Click HERE for the video...

16 MAR  2009  - DID YOU MISS OUT ON 1956? -  Check out this perfectly preserved house in St. Louis, circa 1956... Click HERE for crazy details... WOW.

16 MAR  2009  -  PINK BATHROOMS -   If you missed it on the link right above this, you might wanna go HERE for a little trip down memory lane.  There's actually a whole website devoted to these retro bathrooms... Who knew?  One even has some fish on the wall...

15 FEB 2009  - THE DREAM TRUCK LIVES   You probably have local cruise-ins in your town, but unless you live in California, the chances of seeing something truly spectacular at your local cruise night are probably not high... So, imagine my surprise one night late last summer, while I was wandering through the parking lot of a Culver's burger joint, a little outside of St. Louis, as I stumbled onto one of the most famous kustom trucks of all time, the fabled Rod & Custom Dream Truck... Click HERE for a few pics.  If you're a real car guy, you already know the story...

25 JAN 2009  - SOME PICS I FORGOT ABOUT:  I had completely forgotten about these photos from Pinkneyville, Illinois, until about a week ago... These were shot back in the Summer of 2008, and they make me want this cold weather to just go away forever.  If you live out in California, or maybe off somewhere in Sweden, and you're wondering what car shows in the rural midwest of America might be like, well, think big, ancient deco style tractors, Pierce Arrows, and V-16 Marmons.  You might even find a chopped shoe box Ford among the Model T's and Fire Trucks.  A crazy mix... There must be a lot of rich, old farmers out there... If you're wondering what I mean, click right HERE for some photos.

02 JAN 2009  - BARRET-JACKSON'S FIRST EVER LAS VEGAS AUCTION:  It was also MY first Barrett-Jackson trip.  And what a fun way to spend some time in Vegas.  Click HERE for about 160 photos... Yes, the big Scottsdale auction is coming up.

01 JAN 2009 - INDY SPEEDWAY MOTEL CLOSES:  Sad story... We used to cruise through their parking lot back when the big Hoosier Meet was held at the track.... Click HERE for an external link...
