2007 STUFF:

16 DEC 2007 - HOLIDAY STUFF:  Mano Forsman has once again come through with some terrific Holiday artwork.  Mano lives in Sweden, and aside from being a Cadillac nut, he owns one of the coolest Kustom Kaisers anywhere... And, on top that, he's in the process of restoring a super rare Checker cab, from 1954.  It is perhaps the only one left on the planet.  How it ended up in Sweden, I honestly don't know.  Anyway, for the past few years, Mano has been sending me his fantastic holiday artwork, and I thought it was high time I put together a little gallery of his stuff.  Click HERE for some his other Christmas themed car art...

01 DEC 2007 - AS PROMISED, A FEW SHOW PICS FROM HERSHEY:  If you're into unusual cars, then you might wanna check out these pics... Ever hear of a 1951 Thrif-T??? Me neither.  Check out the last row in the photos, by clicking HERE.  It's the yellow thing with three wheels.

19 NOV 2007 - THAT CRAZY AUCTION IN MITCHELL, INDIANA:  Click HERE for a bunch of pics... Maybe you read the pre-sale notice in Old Cars Weekly, or maybe you have no idea of what I'm talking about.  Either way, this one was special... How many yards are still out there with this kind of stuff???

11 NOV 2007 - STILL MORE HERSHEY PICS:  Here are some photos taken just prior to the big RM Auctions sale... There were a few exceptional deals, and I'm absolutely sick that I didn't get that neat Willys (last row, on the far left)... It went CHEAP, and I'm a cheap kinda guy, which is why it makes me sick.  Some lucky guy went home with one heck of a cool car for almost nothing...  Then, when your done, be sure to check out the final bids by visiting the RM Auctions website, by clicking HERE.   Sort by price, and you'll see what you missed out on.  It's nice to know there are still some bargains out there!

28 OCT 2007 - HERSHEY PICS:  Ever been to Hershey?  Me neither... But my trusty ole dad went again this year, and he took some photos in the swap meet, which you can see by clicking HERE.  Stay tuned for more photos from the actual show...

09 SEP 2007 - THE 1899 HORSEY HORSELESS???? - OK, since when did TIME magazine start using terms like "Brainfart"??? Recently, they decided to list the 50 worst cars of all time, to coincide with the 50 year anniverary of the Edsel, which even they admit wasn't actually a bad car... I like Edsels!  Anyway, click HERE, if you haven't already seen it... I actually agree with SOME of their picks!

09 SEP 2007 - CLUB DE MER UPDATE:  Mary Martino sent me an update on a couple of his projects recently.  Regular readers know about his Pontiac Club De Mer recreation, an ambitious project if ever there was one!  Click HERE for what you may have missed... Otherwise, click HERE for a more recent pic of Marty, toiling away in his garage.  Or, click HERE for the '59 Pontiac donor car Mary is using for one his projects, which shows the car, as he puts it:  "After I got a hold of it with the sawzall and my OSHA aproved "Binford looz-a-limb 2000"...  Turns out the rear section will be used on a hot rod!  A recycling effort, eh?  A buddy of his wants it... Finally, click HERE for a detail under the fender of his Norseman recreation.  Amazing stuff!  Kind of makes me proud to be an American!  Hey, we're not ALL lazy...

Look on the right side of the page.  Also, be sure to check out the 1940 Chevrolet dealer video, and the 1942 Oldsmobile clip. This is amazing stuff... Someone needs to tell Paul Meyer about this link.  I just don't have his email address.  Anyway, I can't wait for the book.  Thanks, Ron!

12 JUNE 2007 - CLUB DE MER UPDATE:  Marty Martino sent THIS set of photos to update me on the progress of his Pontiac concept car... He also sent some photos of a new project for another customer, which should be amazing when completed.  What is it?  The Chrysler Norseman, which sank with the SS Andrea Doria back in the late 50's... Amazing stuff.  Thanks for the photos, Marty!  (Click HERE for the original page...)

12 JUNE 2007 - THE NASH FILMSTRIP IS BACK ONLINE:  The '49-'51 Nash is one of my all-time faves... Here are some pics from a 1949 Nash dealer filmstrip that I scanned a while back.  These were removed from the site for a while, as I have been redesigning some things.  It's a slow process getting all this back online...

Click HERE for an example of what you'll find, and then click HERE for a direct link to their site... This is perhaps the coolest use of tax-payer dollars I've ever seen!

25 FEB 2007 - ROY HEAD, TEXAS BLUE-EYED SOUL CROONER:  I've never been the kind of guy who would watch "American Idol", but this year is a little different... Roy Head's son, Jason "Sundance" Head, is one of the finalists... We're hoping he goes the distance... He certainly wowed the judges in his audition.  Anyway, this got me thinking about the pile of old Roy Head photos my mother had tucked away.  If you know who Roy is, or if you're ready to find out, click HERE for a sampling of some old pics.  Yes, the '70s were pretty cool with all those rhinestones, sideburns, and such... Today, Roy is still out there performing, and was recently noted in "No Depression" magazine for his stellar performace at the "Ponderosa Stomp".  He's best known for his smash hit "Treat Her Right" that you will hear frequently on those Oldies stations across the country... It's certainly a catchy song, and Roy has always been a great guy.  Sundance seems to be following in dad's footsteps, and we wish him the best of luck...

18 FEB 2007 - MORE STUFF FROM RAY FELLE:  After digging through some more pics, I've scanned these black and whites snapped sometime in the 1950's... Ray was a car dealer, and he apparently thought enough of this Plymouth to snap this pic.  He also apparently bought this 1948 Ford coupe (or is it a '46 or a '47?) that he customized to some extent.  Check out the before photo, and compare it with the after photo.  You'll notice he added some 1941 Pontiac skirts, a sun visor, and what appears to be 1948 Chevrolet hood ornament... That's how they did it back then... Nothing radical, just cool.  Personally, I think those ranch style houses are pretty cool... If you look closely, you'll see a '1949 Buick Roadmaster Riviera in the background of one of the photos...

11 FEB 2007 - RAY FELLE:  St. Louis Buick Club guys will remember Ray Felle, if they're old enough.  Back in the late 70's, I met Ray at the first-ever Buick Club meeting, but later found out his name was actually Ray Fellenstein... What a character!  He loved to play crossword puzzles, and kept meticulous records of everything.... He had once owned a Hudson-Willys dealership back in the 50's and he still held a soft spot for Hudsons.   I recently ran across some old photos from Ray's collection, and I thought I'd post this one, snapped sometime in the 70's, as he bought this little '53 Hudson Jet in 1972.  For a more recent photo of the same car, click HERE... The Jet was a great little car, even though it is probably what forced Hudson to merge with Nash.... Yes, to some it is quite UGLY, but I think it is pretty cool.  If you look in the background of the first photo, you might be able to pick out a 1962 Plymouth, as Ray later became a MOPAR dealer!  That car also still exists today... Ray passed away a couple of years ago, and is missed by everyone who knew him...

21 JAN 2007 - TITILLATING STUFF:  OK, if you're like me, you've been watching the big Barrett-Jackson blowout over the last week, and you've seen how collector car prices have gone absolutely nutty... Well, there was a time when you could find good cars at cheap prices... Want proof?  Click HERE and SUPER SIZE THE IMAGE... I have blacked out the address, as the owner is long-deceased... (My father attended his auction.)  Anyway, this price list dates back to the some time around the 1970's... Read 'em and weep... How 'bout that '42 Hudson Wagon... If you're a Hudson guy, then you probably know that wagon is 1 of only 2 known to exist!  I think the other was found out in the woods on a hillside in Montana...  Maybe someone will write to correct me!

10 DEC 2006 - SUMMER FUN: Well, this ought to make anyone long for summer again.  I didn't get out to too many shows this summer, but I did take time off for this fun little event in Columbia, Illinois over Labor Day weekend.
